This project explores how spatial depth and visual rhythm can emerge from a restrained design system. Beginning with a single linear grid, I gradually introduced hierarchy through a sequence of controlled transformations—adjusting spacing, assigning a limited color palette, and layering geometric elements to generate increasingly complex compositions.
The final two-dimensional pattern became the foundation for a three-dimensional relief model. The background system, composed of Curved Modules, translates flat rectangles into semi-cylindrical forms whose geometry captures light to create subtle tonal variation. The foreground Vertical Fins, inspired by architectural facade systems, establish a second layer of rhythm, casting shadows and revealing different spatial relationships as the viewer moves around the work.
Rather than treating color and form as separate decisions, the project investigates how geometry, light, and layering work together to transform a graphic composition into a spatial experience. It demonstrates that complexity can emerge through the systematic evolution of simple rules rather than the accumulation of visual elements.
